I just got back from Costa Rica, and I really had an excellent time. It was mom and Maggie and her family. and we just had a blast the whole time. We started off in an airplane that was late, as usual with Delta these days, but we took it in stride. And then we got a car in Liberia and made it down to Beach Flamingo, where a cousin and his two boys had his house. We stayed there for 3 days and it was amazing, the sunsets there are incredible. Maggie’s kids were so easy with the boys, especially Holden. Everybody got a surf lesson, and Holden got extra surf lessons because he loved it so much. But we’ve got to keep going, so we said goodbye to the beach for a little while and on to the cloud forest for another adventure.
The first stop is el Silencio, where the cloud forest envelops you all day everyday. Me and mom and Maggie went to the spa and it was everything I thought it would be. It was in the jungle at a remote location. The minute I walked in, it was a calm atmosphere. There were different services on the menu. For example, a relaxing massage and a lavender wrap – both of which I got. It ended with a cup of tea. It was chic and it was perfect! After the massage was done, I walked to our little home among the jungle. We ate at the restaurant both nights, and it was yummy! After the el Silencio stop, we moved on to Arenal. On the way, we stopped in the sloth territory, and with our guide, we did a walk around to see if we could look up in the trees and find one. And we did! We saw three or four of them, and two of them were walking. We were thrilled! And the guide took us to a woman who made sopecitos. We got to Arenal and we were going to spend just one night there. Unfortunately, it rained all evening so we couldn’t see the volcano. I’ve seen it before and I think Maggie and Winston have seen it, so we went on a hike in the jungle again and it was fascinating.
We finished with Arenal and started making our way back in a car to the beach. This time it was shorter with no traffic, and we got to see the plains and the mountains in the background. Then it was time to relax, even more so than the jungle. The hotel was all inclusive, so we really liked that. We got the ocean and the pool and the food. The last two nights were magical. The whole trip was unbelievable, and I really didn’t have any problems. The only problem, I believe, was going out to the beach the first time but I didn’t have the chair to take off my shoes, but other than that, I killed it! Maggie, Winston, mom and the cousin and all the kids killed it too.
